Find Tax Clients
It’s Time to Shake Some Bushes
If you’ve been busily preparing taxes these past few weeks, this article is especially for you. If you haven’t, read it anyway, as it may give you some great marketing ideas you’ve overlooked.
With the traditional Tax Season over, it’s time to get your marketing hat on again. Here are some sure-fire steps you can take to shake off the marketing cobwebs and add more clients:
1. Write down your fundamental strengths as an accountant. Think about your successes. Visualize the victories you’ve had as an outstanding financial consultant.
2. Make a quick list of your most likely prospective clients. A positive meeting with a friendly prospect or present client–whether or not you get a new client–can do wonders.
3. Consider new marketing ideas. Read, or re-read, some of Universal’s past newsletters (that you may have been too busy to read) and look for a new marketing strategy that gets you fired up. A fresh outlook can be just the thing you need to get back into the swing of selling again.
4. If you’re a Universal graduate, review your materials from your marketing training to get you re-committed and excited.
5. Send a Thank You card to each of your tax clients. Let them know that you appreciate referrals for accounting clients and that you “have a nice way of saying, ‘thank you.’”
6. Rely on other professionals. Contact your networking buddies and let them know that you are re-opening for business. Remember that enthusiasm is contagious, so let them know that this was a great tax year for you, and you’re looking forward to making the rest of the year even better.
7. Review your contact list for the past three months. Consider if you should contact any of these people for referrals and clients. Expect the unexpected.
8. Use inspirational material. Read or listen to something positive and uplifting for an emotional boost. By the way, this is good advice for the whole year.
